ivy thomas is a Penarth based interior design studio working across The Vale, Cardiff & South Wales. We specialise in design-led homes & renovations, supporting clients who want a considered, practical approach to interior design. Often acting as a trusted partner for those who are time-poor & want the design & delivery handled professionally on their behalf.

Our work spans private residential projects & selected commercial commissions, with a focus on thoughtful layouts, confident material choices & interiors that genuinely reflect how people live.

Background & experience

Before founding ivy thomas, I spent over ten years working at Tesco Head Office in a senior buying role, followed by an international buying career in Dubai. This background has shaped the way I approach design; with a strong understanding of budgets, process, decision-making & delivery at scale.

That commercial experience translates directly into my interior design work, allowing me to manage complex projects with clarity, organisation & attention to detail, while ensuring design decisions are well considered & realistically deliverable.

Design approach

I believe good interior design should balance creativity with practicality. Homes should feel personal & distinctive, but also function effortlessly day to day & stand the test of time.

My approach favours confident use of colour, patterns & mixed materials (where it suits the brief). Always grounded in thoughtful layouts & well-resolved details. I guide clients through decisions, challenge ideas where needed, & ensure every design choice has a clear purpose.  Focusing on longevity rather than passing trends.

A family-led approach to design & delivery

ivy thomas works closely alongside Thomas Ivy Developments, our family-run design & build company led by myself & my husband. This close working relationship allows design intent to be carefully protected throughout the build process, from early planning through to completion.

By aligning interior design & construction, we’re able to deliver projects with a high level of care, consistency & attention to detail. With hands-on involvement throughout & regular site presence to ensure what is designed is what is ultimately built.
